PRIYADRASHINI DNYAN PRABODHINIS
LAW COLLEGE PHALTAN

About The College

Priyadarshini Dnyan Prabodhini’s Law College was established in Phaltan in 1991, offering a three-year LL.B. course. The college was founded under the visionary guidance of its founder trustee, the Late Barrister Raja S. Bhonsale—a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India, former Advocate General of Maharashtra, and former Judge of the Bombay High Court. His untiring efforts were dedicated to elevating legal education in Phaltan and its surrounding areas.

Affiliated with Shivaji University, Kolhapur, the college is approved by the Bar Council of India (New Delhi), the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa, and the Government of Maharashtra. Notably, it stands as the first and only law college at the Taluka level in the region.

The college began its journey in the 1991-1992 academic year on a non-grant basis and was subsequently admitted to government grant-in-aid on April 1, 1995. In 2008, the college moved to its own spacious campus, constructed on over one acre of land in the heart of Phaltan at Girvi Naka.

Currently, the institution offers two primary programs:

  • Three-Year Law Course (100% grantable)
  • Five-Year Law Course (Started in 2001-2002, permanently non-grantable)

In 2004, the college achieved a 'B' Grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore. By 2005, it was recognized as one of the lead colleges among those affiliated with Shivaji University.

To maintain and enhance educational standards, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was established in October 2004. The IQAC meets regularly to discuss and implement quality enhancement initiatives in alignment with NAAC guidelines. The college consistently submits its Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQARs) and is currently in the process of reaccreditation, remaining committed to continuous growth and institutional excellence.
